Current Projects
Unity Station Compression Revitalization
MIPL is proposing to complete tie-in work under a Canada Energy Regulator (CER) Streamlining Order. The proposed work is required to modify the existing MIPL block valve riser at the east end of the MIPL Alberta-Unity NPS-16 pipeline. The block valve will be modified to provide additional valving necessary for a natural gas supply connection to the existing customer.
In conjunction with the proposed block valve modifications, MIPL is also proposing to decommission a 190-meter pipeline segment of the Alberta-Unity NPS-16 natural gas pipeline, which is located within the TransGas Limited Unity Compressor Station parcel. The entire length of the proposed decommissioning is within the TransGas Unity Compressor Station parcel and within the limits of Unity, SK.
MIPL intends to file an application to the CER for approval of the proposed decommissioning activities in Summer/Fall of 2025. This will be completed in accordance with section 45.1 of the CER Onshore Pipeline Regulations.
All project application materials to date are available on the CER website.
Completed Projects
Pierceland Supply Project
MIPL built a 29-kilometre pipeline from the Nova Gas Transmission Limited (Nova) meter station east of Cherry Grove, AB to the TransGas Limited (TransGas) meter station east of Beacon Hill, SK. In addition, a new compressor station was also constructed near the west end of this pipeline, within Saskatchewan.
Residential, commercial, and industrial customer growth has increased demand for natural gas in Saskatchewan. Construction of the project supports this growth by allowing for additional natural gas supply to be transported into Saskatchewan, from Alberta, through the Nova system to existing TransGas facilities in the area. Keeping our stakeholders informed is an important aspect of all our major projects. Stakeholder engagement is achieved through landowner, public, Indigenous, and community involvement.
We continually invest in Saskatchewan and believe strongly in working together with these partners when projects are being planned and developed.
All project application materials to date are available on the CER website.
Canada Energy Regulator Safety Advisories
The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) expects regulated companies to demonstrate a proactive commitment to continual improvement in safety, security, and environmental protection, and to promote a positive safety culture as part of their management systems.
Safety advisories are issued periodically by the CER to inform the oil and gas industry of an identified safety or environmental concern with the goal of preventing the occurrence of related incidents. A safety advisory serves to highlight CER requirements, and to convey the CER’s expectation that regulated companies take appropriate action to mitigate any potential impacts to people or the environment.
Previously issued safety and information advisories can be found on the CER website.
